01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Cafe Phalam’s Buddha bowl is a colourful choice when you’re in the mood for a vegetable-led meal. Diners describe a mix of leafy greens, grains and creamy elements, with contrasting colours and textures. One visitor found the bowl they ordered for breakfast satisfying, too. It comes with a drink, making it an option for brunch or lunch when you want a complete meal in one bowl.

For something warm, try the seasonal vegetable soup set, with a choice of rice-flour bread, baguette or brown rice with five grains. One diner who enjoys the soup also noted that it changes with the seasons, so the selection varies with the time of year. Breakfast options include the Morning Special, with rice-flour bread, soup, salad, soy-meat balls, rice-flour cake, fruit and a drink; a smoothie made with amazake, served with house-made granola and fruit; and a muffin set.

For a café break, carrot cake with warming spices pairs well with coffee. One visitor enjoyed taking their time over French-press coffee and cake, while another noted the grainy flavour of a wholemeal muffin. The cappuccino is also worth a look: the menu says it is made with Kitsuji grass-fed milk and a blend roasted by Sentido, and served in an original cappuccino cup. From a bowl or soup-based meal to a quick muffin and coffee, there are options for different appetites and occasions.
